The focus of the Endurance Sports Science research theme is to develop high quality, applied and impactful research across endurance sports. This involves multi-disciplinary research collaborations across sports science disciplines with researchers and other key partners including national governing bodies of sport (NGBs). The aim of the Endurance Sport Science research theme is to enhance the health, well-being, training practice and performance of endurance athletes and coaches in Ireland through multi-disciplinary research.
Objectives:
- Expand the current research programme, building additional national and international research collaborations and partnerships with NGBs.
- Extend the boundaries of applied multi-disciplinary research in endurance sports.
- Increase research funding, ISI publications and the number of funded researchers in endurance sports science.
- Conduct high-quality, applied research that informs and enhances national and international policies and practices aimed at improving the health, well-being, and training practices of endurance sports athletes.
