Suzanne joined the CTL in July 2023 as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Lead. This role involves driving the University strategic aim to ensure accessibility to university learning experience for all students by embedding and enacting UDL in programme design and delivery. This role will involve the design, development, and evaluation of structured professional learning for staff alongside the development of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment resources. Furthermore, the role will involve nurturing the UDL community of practice at UL and working with colleagues to sustain UDL practices across the University.
Prior to joining UL, Suzanne worked as an academic developer and learning technologist, accruing considerable experience in the higher education sector over the last ten years. Specific areas of expertise include scholarship of teaching and learning; virtual learning environments; embedding digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment; digital accessibility and universal design for learning. Research interests also include digital wellbeing; social media in education; artificial intelligence in education; large cohort teaching and learning; and digital assessment. Suzanne draws on expertise from a previous career in video and television production to inform her work in higher education, particularly the production of high quality digital resources.
Suzanne holds a BSc in Communications & Media from Trinity College Dublin and an MSc in education and training from Dublin City University. She recently completed the Doctor of Education programme at DCU and was awarded senior fellowship of Advance HE in May 2020.
