The Employee Relations team works with colleagues from across the university to enhance a progressive and collaborative Employee Relations culture by building trust, encouraging openness and fostering an environment in which colleagues feel supported and valued by their managers and the University.

They provide sound, professional, and prompt advice and support to the University community in the management of employee relations matters in compliance with HR Policies, Procedures, Process and employment legislation (e.g., dignity and respect, acceptable behaviour, grievances, disciplinary, contractual matters, absence management, change management, performance management, health and wellbeing, employee support services, employee and trade union engagement, etc.). They operate in a consulting and advisory capacity to build appropriate dispute resolution strategies supporting the University and its employees through the provision of equitable, solution-focused employee relations practices. This includes integral involvement in developing and implementing effective and reliable policies and procedures to help safeguard a culture based on dignity, respect, and trust. They promote and develop positive working relationships throughout the University community and actively contribute to making the University of Limerick a better place to work. They proactively and positively lead in the development of Trade Union engagement, fostering an open relationship with employees and their union representatives (UNITE).
